Police reveal they have discovered new evidence that could lead to a breakthrough in the five-year-long hunt for missing chef Claudia Lawrence
Police investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence are seeking a man who was heard claiming he knew the 35-year-old chef within days of her going missing five years ago.
The appeal came as dramatic new DNA evidence also emerged in the search for Ms Lawrence.
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Miss Lawrence said a new forensic examination of her house had uncovered the fingerprints of people who have yet to come forward.
The new evidence also includes the DNA of a man found on a discarded cigarette butt in her car, along with other genetic material discovered on objects at the cottage in York which are still being examined by forensic scientists.
A DNA profile of a male has been established from a cigarette butt found in Claudia’s ‘green-blue’ Vauxhall Corsa
